Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (2005)

It should first be noted that this movie is NOT a documentary. So if you are under the impression that a man actually went to "the Muslim World" to actually find out what makes Muslims laugh, you are wrong!

This movie has a "plot" which sucks terribly. No one should waste their time watching this movie. I feel quite awful having to say this, as the main actor, Albert Brooks (the voice of Nemo's father in "Nemo"), seems like a nice enough guy...

But this movie just sucked (and that's an understatement). It wasn't funny (had maybe a total of 3 semi-funny one-liner jokes), it dragged on and on, and the ending was just so incredibly lame.

Definitely a 1 out of 5 stars. Sorry Albert!

So the the 3 semi-funny one-liner jokes = 1 star?

I actually liked this movie. I thought it was pretty funny too!

What about the scene, where the Pakistani Muslims kidnap Albert, as a joke (because it's what they expect from Muslims), and his friends on the border between Pakistan and India fear for his life? LOOL - It totally addresses the stereotypes.

Or what about when he's looking for a receptionist, and the Muslim woman in burqa keeps asking, "Are you a Jew"!? LOL!

I don't know, I really enjoyed it. Out of 5, I'd give it 5 (perhaps i like boring movies!?). Before I forget, I loved the ending!!! Honest, it was so funny. Definitely something I'd recommend.

I was gonna give it ZERO stars, but I wanted to be nice, but trust me, it doesn't even deserve one star lol

Hey Sarah,

would you help me out in something plz? considering the fact that you're a "book worm" :P. Anyway, I would really appreciate it if you could recommend me a book of LITERARY value , where character, plot, theme. etc are emphasized on. you know what i am sayin'? like I don't want some mystery/horror books and of that sort, as there isn't really any indepth analysis given to the character, theme and such.

Hope I was clear lol.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

salam

Books of Literary value:

One Hundred Years of Solitude
By Gabriel Garcia Marquez

-Andrew Sean Greer

The Great Gatsby
-F Scott Fitzgerald

A Separate Peace (great book)
-John Knowles

I guess these are enough suggestions for now! :)
